Janie’s Mobile School – A Unique Online Private Tutoring Experience
In September 1996, Janie set up her own tutoring business. With no real idea of whether it would take off or not, she took a leap of faith and is now running an extremely successful tutoring business that has seen her having to turn people away because she simply cannot fit them in. She has loved every minute of it and loves watching her students grow and develop under her guidance.
From Office Job to Tutoring Business
Janie worked in an office for 13 years, but grew to hate the same four walls she was stuck in every day. With no windows, there was no view of the outside world and this made it very depressing. That’s when she decided that enough was enough and she wanted to pursue her dream of helping children, which started when she wanted to become a nurse when she was younger. She went back to college, got her teaching certificate, and then went on to do numerous Open University teaching qualifications.
However, life got in the way, and she had to put her studies on the back burner. She now lives with her two rough collies – Angel and Lucky, and they have become her co-workers. She had also considered being a vet nurse but the thought of animals dying was too much for her.
Grieving and Refocusing
After the sudden death of her mum in 2014 and her dad 5 months later in 2015, Janie had to grieve. This meant that her business suffered and she had to take some time off. However, after a while, she was able to pull herself together and is now full steam ahead, loving her business once again.

Here is a selection of the materials I use. I use good quality materials, as I like to keep a professional standard. No loose sheets of paper. Each child has their own materials, and exercise books.
These are reflected in my fees, but my prices are low and I don’t see much of a profit at the end of the day. My goal is not the money. It’s achieving a professional reliable tuition service to help as many children as possible. All materials, plus petrol to keep my business mobile, are included in the fee, even to the pencils. Your child will not have to supply anything, unless they wish to.
Janie’s Mobile School will be teaching your child through zoom until further notice. All we ask is that we can be in a private room, where your child or myself will not be disturbed from the rest of the household. We will need a suitable table to work from, too.
We teach mostly English and Maths, but GCSE Science is available on request. We are working to introduce other subjects at secondary level for the future.
We believe that English and Maths are more important at primary level. No other subject will be offered.
Our lessons are for one hour each. It’s up to the individual whether you want your child to be taught for more hours per week.
I do not discuss fees or a child’s individual needs online. I will speak to you privately via messenger or email.
